Study Circle 2 ~ Peristence ~ morning session
Business Meeting
1. Annual Conference Location and Date
Many locations in Sacramento have been explored for the conference. We decided on Twin Rivers Adult School off Watt Avenue on Wynona Way for this year's event. We will only have to pay custodial fees for the day ~ no other cost! Stephanie will check on getting in for set up on Friday afternoon. Plenty of parking, classroom, and restrooms. She will also check on setting up a tour for us at our next meeting. Paula will contact Tracy Block for one of the sessions ~ Phonics: Basic Concepts & the O-G Approach (Paula and Yvette attended this session at CLA and think it would be valuable for tutors.). Start thinking of other topics/presenters that would be of value to our group!
2. Presenter for CVLLN April Meeting (Professional Development)
Two topics of interested were selected by the group. Both sessions by Kathy St. John. Karen will contact her to save April 14th for one of the two. The rest of the group needs to vote for their pick. These are the links for the two, so you can read the details:
http://libraryliteracy.org/staff/resources/pro_dev/Student%20Referrals%20KStJohn.pdf
http://libraryliteracy.org/staff/resources/pro_dev/Spokesperson%20KStJohn.pdf
Pick one and let Karen know so that she can give Kathy the final decision. This will be paid for through CLLS as the second of two professional development days sponsored by them per year.
3. Roles and Goals
Discussion of ways to increase Goals Met. Karen suggested workshops using the R&G Curriculum. Look for common threads within the goals and conduct workshops accordingly. Suggest R&G Curriculum at meetings with pairs.
4. Next Meeting
Wednesday, February 17th
9:00 am
Arcade Library
Last study circle on persistence. Those who attended selected the readings for the final study circle.
